Paths
In the box to the left, Paths, you add paths to the directories on the Monitor ERP server, or on a file server from which users should be able to copy files. For the paths that should be used you should check the Active box.
In the box to the right, Contents of the directory, you’ll see the files and sub-directories which can be linked in the selected path. In the Linked column, the checkbox is checked if the file is linked to a record in the system. If there are linked files in a path, it cannot be deleted.
By using the buttons on the function menu you can insert paths, add and delete paths, and move them up or down in the list. However, you cannot delete a path as long as there are linked files in the path.
Path
Here you enter/select file paths. For an active path you can either enter the path manually or use the file dialog you access via the Browse button to the right of the field, to browse your way to the path.
If you click the browse button, in a dialog box, you can choose either Local path on Monitor server, UNC path or SharePoint Online URL.

You only select a local path if, as user, you are running the Monitor ERP client locally on the Monitor ERP server, since the path to the files leads to a local directory on a unit on the computer's hard drive.
Add a Local path on Monitor server, and in the list, choose the directory under the unit to which you want to create a path.
You then add the path by clicking OK and saving the procedure.
Please note! When you have added a local path, a warning is shown beside the path in the table to the left, Paths. The warning informs you that rights to the local path are controlled by the Windows account on the server.

You select a UNC path if you have users that run the Monitor ERP client on the network, and the file path to the files leads to a shared directory on a server in the network.
Add a UNC path and enter Server name on the server to which you wish to create paths. The server can be, for example, the Monitor ERP server or a file server in the network.
Then press Tab or Enter to see a list of the shared directories available on the specified server.
You can also check the Show hidden network shares box in order to see and select among the hidden network shares on the server. This is indicated with a dollar sign "$" at the end.
You then add the path by clicking OK and saving the procedure.
Please note!
- In networks, you should use UNC paths when you add paths. This is to ensure that all users can access the paths, when they at least have read permission.
- If the users should be able to link new files and save them in a path, the user must have write permission in the path. This applies to the users' Windows accounts which runs the Monitor ERP client.
- The Windows account which runs the service for the application server on the Monitor ERP server must also have permission to write in the paths, regardless of whether the paths point to the Monitor ERP server or to a different server, for example, a file server in the network.

You choose a SharePoint Online URL path if the files are on a SharePoint server.
Firstly, navigate in your browser to the directory on the SharePoint server to which you want to create a path.
Copy the full address (URL) in the browser.
Add a SharePoint Online URL in the procedure, and paste the address into the Server name field.
Then click Tab or Enter to see a list of the directories under the specified address on the SharePoint server. The root directory is also shown.
You then add the path by clicking OK and saving the procedure.
Please note!
- Only SharePoint Online is supported, not SharePoint On-Premises.
- In order to register SharePoint Online URL paths, settings for SharePoint must firstly be configured in Azure Portal and in Monitor ERP. See this guide (in English).
Name
Here you see/enter the name that is displayed when linking files. The suggested name is loaded from the selected directory. However, this can be changed. "Images", for example, can be entered as a name for a path to a directory containing images.
Validation
Here you can manually validate if a path is available. You can click a separate row and a validation of the path will take place, regardless if the path is set to Active or not. You can use the Check availability button to check the availability of all paths where “Active” has been marked, at the same time. A green check mark means the path is available. If the path is not available, a warning symbol
will be displayed.
Validation of SharePoint paths does not work.
If the path is in the IP format, for example, \\10.1.1.1\test it means that the validation will take a bit longer.
Active
Here you determine if the path is active. Only files in active paths can be selected when linking files. If you are no longer using a path, you can uncheck this checkbox in order to deactivate the path. This means users can no longer link files from the path, or choose to save new files in the path, when linking files.
Available
Here you decide which groups, roles, and users that should have access to the path.
User rights can be configured for local paths, UNC paths, and SharePoint Online URL paths. These can be used to limit/allow access to specific paths in the system.
If you activate the Available to all setting, the path will become available to all users. This setting is checked by default when you add a new path.
If the system setting called Method for copying files to Monitor folders has been set to "Automatic", files will automatically be uploaded to the path entered in the File path for files being imported to Monitor system setting.
Please note! A path entered in the system setting will override the user rights configured for the folder in question. This means users can upload files even though the path has user rights configured.
